IPTV safe - tvg-id, tvg-logo and group-title attributes plus #EXTVLCOPT, #EXTGRP and #KODIPROP lines survive conversion

Command line - script playlist builds and repairs with --folder, --url, --groups, --merge, --relocate and more

How to use X M3U Converter

Make an M3U playlist from a music folder

Turn a folder of songs into a playlist that keeps working when you copy the folder to another PC, a USB stick or a phone.

  1. Open the folder. Click New from and choose Music folder..., or drag the folder onto the window.
  2. Pick the options. Tick Include video files for a video playlist. Leave Read titles and durations from tags on to get "Artist - Title" names.
  3. Build it. Click Build playlist. Subfolders are included and tracks are sorted naturally, so track 2 comes before track 10.
  4. Save it inside the folder. Choose M3U8 (Extended, UTF-8), keep Path handling on Relative to output folder and click Convert & Save.

Tip: untick rows you do not want and drag the rest into a new order before saving - only ticked rows are written.

Open an IPTV playlist from an Xtream Codes login

Download your provider's channel list and keep only the groups you actually watch.

  1. Open the login window. Click New from and choose Playlist URL or Xtream login....
  2. Enter your details. Type the server with its port, for example http://line.example.com:8080, plus your username and password. Pasting a full get.php link fills in all three for you.
  3. Choose the list type. m3u_plus includes channel names, logos and groups. Use MPEG-TS for most players, or HLS if yours prefers it.
  4. Download. Click Download & open. The channels appear in the list, with the number of groups shown in the status bar.
  5. Pick your groups. Click Groups..., untick the groups you do not want - type in Filter to find them fast - and click Apply.
  6. Save. Click Convert & Save to write a smaller playlist with only your channels.

Tip: the same window shows the EPG (TV guide) link. Click Copy next to it and paste it into your IPTV app.

Turn a list of stream URLs into a playlist

Have radio or video stream links in a text file or a message? Make them a named playlist in seconds.

  1. Copy your links. Links already on the clipboard are pasted in for you.
  2. Open the URL list. Click New from and choose List of URLs..., or click Open text file... to load a .txt file.
  3. Name the channels. Put a name before a link with a | or a tab, for example Radio One | http://stream.example.com/r1.mp3. Links without a name get one from the URL.
  4. Build and save. Click Build playlist, then Convert & Save.

Fix a playlist after moving your music

Moved your music to a new drive or folder? Repair every broken entry at once instead of rebuilding the playlist.

  1. Load the playlist. Click Browse or drop the file on the window. Entries whose files are gone show in red as missing.
  2. Point at the new location. Click Fix missing files... and choose the folder your music lives in now.
  3. Let it match. Every missing entry is found by file name anywhere inside that folder, subfolders included. Entries that still work are left alone.
  4. Save. Check the rows that were matched, then click Convert & Save.

Tip: files that cannot be found anywhere can be left out with Untick missing - nothing is deleted.

Convert or merge many playlists at once

Switch a whole collection to a new format, or combine several playlists into one.

  1. Set the format. On the Convert tab, pick the output format and path handling. The Batch tab uses the same settings.
  2. Add playlists. Open the Batch tab and click Add files..., or drop several playlists on the window.
  3. Choose where to save. Click Choose... next to Output folder, or leave it empty to save each file next to its original.
  4. Convert or merge. Tick Merge all into one playlist to combine them, then click Convert all.

Use it from the command line

Every feature works in scripts and scheduled tasks. Run X-M3U-Converter.exe --help for the full list of options.
